Purpose of study

Let start this topic by reading a humorous story:
There is a Singaporean businessman who went to Sentosa and he found one youngster relaxing on the beach.

He told him: "Stop idling away your time. Get yourself to school immediately and start studying!"
The youngster replied:"Why should I go to school?"
Businessman:"If you go to school and study hard, you can get good grades."
Youngster asked again:"Why do I need good grades?"
Businessman:"Ah, if you get good grades, you can get into a good university."
"And what will happen if I get into a good university?" Youngster asked.
Businessman:"If you graduate from a prestigious university, you can work for a big company or serve in a prominent public office. You can also earn a high salary and maybe enter into a good marriage."
Youngster asked:"Then what?"
Businessman:"You can live in a beautiful home and enjoy life."
Youngster asked:"And then?"
businessman:"You can work very hard, send your kids to a good school and then retire."
"AND?", Youngster queried.
Businessman:"Then you can go to a nice warm place and spend every day relaxing."
"If that's the goal," youngster responded,"then I don't have to wait. I've already achieve it!"

This story given us some question to think about
'why do we spend so much time and energy in studying?'
' For what purpose do we live our lives?'
' What is money for?'

So if our sole reason for living is to have it easy, there may be no need to make strenuous efforts to get into a good school or even just find a job.
Good school and good jobs do not automatically grant you happiness and ease.Even you will to chase after them, there is no guarante you 'll be happy once you get them.

Only by experiencing life's challenges can you fulfill your potential and experience true happiness.The purpose of our lives is to fulfill a mission that is ours alone and to do our best to help those who are suffering. TO do so, you will need strangth and character. That is why it is improtant to emphasis on how much there is to gain by working hard and challenging yourself now.

There is also a case, where there is a young man who had a friend who easily excelled in everything and whom everyone admired. It was very surprise to learn that twenty-five years later, the young man received a letter from another friend telling him that this person had ended up leading" a sorrowful life that could only be described as hellish, filled with financial setback and family problems."

Everyone will wonder why this could happen to someone who had shown such promise in his youth. From one possible reason was, we can say having pampered and fussed over from an early age, that person never learned what hard work was nor what it meant to struggle to accomplish something. He never learned what a life of genuine depth and substance was. Thinking that everything he desired would just fall in his lap, he never challenged himself, even going out of his way to avoid strenuous effort.

Time to "Pay it Foward"
